7 Cocktails for Women on Women's Day

It’s the most romantic month of the year. The roses, the candles, the sweet perfumes — they all add up to the night we call Women’s, and we’ve got seven incredible recipes for your special someone to share with you.

Absolut Gold

This dazzling cocktail is sure to impress your date with actual, edible gold glitter. To make this sparkling cocktail, stir together

  • 1 part Absolut original Vodka
  • 5 ounces peach liqueur
  • 5 ounces Lillet Blanc

Strain into champagne glasses, and top the edges with sparkling, edible gold glitter for that touch of glamour.

The Agent Carter

What better way to honor that sassy, strong woman in your life than by making her a drink named for her favorite gal from the movies? The Agent Carter was designed for actress Hayley Atwell in honor of her leading role as Agent Carter in Captain America.

1.     One week ahead of time, mix together 300 grams of fresh raspberries and 225 grams of caster sugar. Make sure you bruise up those raspberries as you go.

2.     Leave them in the fridge for one day, or until they start to form a syrup.

3.     Strain the syrup and dump the sugar and berries into a sieve to discard the seeds.

4.     Mix the syrup and puree together with 225 milliliters of champagne vinegar and stir until the rest of the sugar dissolves.

5.     Store this in the fridge for a week. This mixture at the end of that week is known as a raspberry shrub.

6.     When the big day arrives, mix together in a shaker full of ice:

  • 60 milliliters of this raspberry shrub
  • 10 milliliters of red vermouth,
  • 60 milliliters of gin and
  • 10 milliliters of orgeat
  1. Finally, strain this into your glasses, and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Roses in the Snow

This frothy white cocktail will conjure up thoughts of great romances like those found in the old fairy tales.

1. Into a cocktail shaker, combine

  • 5 ounces gin
  • 75 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 5 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 75 ounces rosewater

2. Shake, without ice, for about 30 seconds.

3. Then fill the shaker with ice, and shake until frothy — usually about another 30 seconds.

4.  Double strain through a bar strainer into a fine mesh strainer, into your glasses filled with ice.

5. Finish off with 2 ounces of club soda, and 3 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters.

My Sharona

For the music lover, make this flirty ginger beer and fruit drink.

1. In a mixing glass, muddle 6 fresh raspberries.

2. Add the following:

  • Ice
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 spoonful of agave syrup

 3. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.

 4. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice.

 5. Finish off with 3 ounces of ginger beer, and stir gently.

The Del Rio

The Del Rio was created in honor of the Hollywood legend Delores Del Rio, a beautiful and proud woman from Mexico.

1. Completely squeeze the juice from 2 peaches into a clean bowl. Completely discard all pulp and skin.

2. Then, fill a shaker with ice, and pour in

  • 40 milliliters of mezcal reposado
  • 20 milliliters of Pierre Frank Dry Curaçua
  • 20 milliliters of that freshly squeezed peach juice
  • A few dashes of chocolate mole bitters

3. Stir until thoroughly icy.
4. Strain into your glasses, and garnish with flower petals, like those from the gardenia.

Tequila Daisy

This delightful little drink is sure to tease your girl’s romantic side.

1. Shake together a half ounce of lemon juice and a half teaspoon of fine sugar.
2. Add in 2 ounces of tequila, and a half ounce of Grand Marnier. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled glass, and top off with some club soda to round out the texture.

Love Buzz

This beautiful chocolate cocktail is perfect for getting your date in the mood.

1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Into the shaker, combine

  • 1-ounce raspberry puree
  • 1 part room temperature espresso
  • 5 ounces of vodka
  • 5 ounces of Crème de Cacao
3. Shake and strain into your favorite cocktail glass, and garnish with a raspberry or chocolate shavings.
